Her Story: Watch out world, here comes Claire Runquist. Claire traveled to Hyderabad, India as a high school student to study the connection between home gardens, nutrition and poverty at the at the World Vegetable Center (AVRDC). Claire is a student at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and recently interned at the Office of the Secretary of Agriculture in Washington D.C. While in Washington, DC, Claire worked on the U.S. policy response to the international climate change negotiations in Durban related to sustainability and the Feed the Future program. What kinds of climate change negotiations did she support? Well, she worked on identifying opportunities for companies to create socially responsible programs that could assist farmers and also improve the environment. Way to go, Claire!
